FAQs

What is a Clinical Psychologist?

A Clinical Psychologist works together with people to help alleviate psychological distress. Clinical psychologists have undergone many years of highly specialist training in different settings and keep up to date with advances in research and so can be confident in applying different talking therapies for different problem areas.

What can I expect at my first appointment?

Your first appointment will last around 60 minutes where we will complete an initial assessment where I can find out more about what you would like to work on, how life is for you at the moment and any relevant background factors. From here, we can also make a plan for the way we might work together if you wish to proceed.

How long will my sessions last?

Therapy length depends on a number of factors but usually we would recommend 4 sessions and review how things are going for you. Some people will have a relatively brief number of sessions, between 8-12 while others may have longer term therapy over several years.

How can a psychologist help my company?

Psychologists are experts in human behaviour and therefore use psychological theory to help to improve organisational functioning. This may involve supporting employees or developing specific training materials to support team effectiveness.
